Suggestion Resolved Allow input for 'Team' tournaments

Allow the tournament creator to be able to set the name fields to the desirable teams, instead of forum users. I understand the Roster add-on enables the support for team based tournaments but I do not use the Roster add-on, even though I have purchased it.

So for example we already know which teams (clan names) are participating:

• team 1
• team 2
• team 3
• team 4

Now when we create a tournament, allow the option to create it for team and let us input the fields manually listed above. The scores will manually be updated by us of course. Would also be nice if we can provide click-able links to each team field.

Yes it'll be free input but not for individual users as they won't be in the brackets, the admin will just type out the teams name in the brackets:

Additional to the above:
If also possible to make the field text for hyperlinks so that when a team is clicked, it can take them to the team/clan page. During tournament creation the admin will set the teams in the brackets and link for each bracket to take the user to the teams page when they click it.


In short; I want to provide team vs team tournaments but do not want to use the Roster add-on, although I do have the license for it.

Doesn't the free input feature put actual forum users in the brackets? I don't think I was able to type out custom names inside the brackets. There was only option to "add users" to the tournament?

You add existing users who then pick a name.
Which would be a team.

One participant must be linked to a user, though it's not the real user username that appears but the free input one.

Hmm actually the forum usernames appear in the brackets. There is no option for the participating user to do a custom name in the bracket?

Using that and all I could do was add users to the tournament and generate matches. Upon generating matches, it shows the real participating usernames inside the brackets, and the participating users are not able to set custom team names?

Could you show a sample of this?

I guess if you add users you don't have the custom name, but if each user registers you should have it.

Users are unable to register when they click the 'Register' button:


This error only happens for free-input tournaments when user tries to participate by clicking the register button. I checked the settings, didn't find anything related to this?

User does have Register permission:

Yes but when clicking 'Register', it'll give that error to them. Only happens if the tournament is a free-input type.

Please update this. You should be able to use team features (setting a team name for example), even if not using the XFA Roster addon.

I am not considering adding anything more than the free input mode.
We have a roster add-on that allows managing teams, it doesn't make sense to add more into Tournament.
