I am wanting to extend the rosters add-on... one of the things I want to do is break the "Members" tab out to the main xfa_roster_club_show template...

A simple copy and paste of contents does not work as it just displays "there are no members of this club" rather than the actual list of members in the club.

How do we accomplish this properly?

Try to remove the members tab / pages, and move it to the main club page

Hum i see
In fact you can’t easily do it because tabs aren’t ajax tabs
You need update some code in php file in order to retrieve club members in club information action
But if you edit code it Il be complicate to upgrade addon later

Better solution is create new addon who override this one in order to add what you want here

If I edit the php, when doing an upgrade it'll overwrite the file, right?

So I can just edit the changes into the php again before doing an upgrade?

Yes you are right
Modification will be loose after upgrade
You will can change them after upgrade again but you will have errors in file checker in admin
